Redesigning Voxer's iOS App for Simplified Daily Communication
The task of redesigning Voxer's iOS application came with the primary objective of simplifying the user experience and transforming it into a daily communication app that users could seamlessly integrate into their lives. To achieve this goal, the design team focused on streamlining the interface, adopting the iOS 7 flat UI design principles, and improving the accessibility of the push-to-talk (PTT) button.
Key Objectives and Features:
Simplified User Experience: The overarching goal was to simplify the user experience, making it more intuitive for both new and existing users. This involved rethinking the app's structure, layout, and navigation.
iOS 7 Flat UI: To keep the app consistent with the design trends of the time, the iOS 7 flat UI design was embraced. This meant cleaner, flatter elements and a more modern look and feel.
Push-to-Talk (PTT) Accessibility: A significant challenge was improving the accessibility and usability of the PTT button, a core feature of the app. The button needed to be prominent and easily accessible for quick voice messaging.
Streamlined Communication: The redesigned app aimed to facilitate quick and efficient communication. This involved refining the chat interface, message delivery, and contact management to make the app suitable for daily use.
Visual Consistency: Creating a consistent visual identity was essential. The design team worked on maintaining a coherent and visually appealing style throughout the app, including icons, typography, and color schemes.
Performance Optimization: Ensuring the app's performance was optimized for iOS devices was crucial. This included responsiveness, efficient resource utilization, and compatibility across various iOS versions.
